The Department of Linguistics and Philology at Uppsala University is currently seeking a researcher in linguistics and text studies. The department conducts research and education focusing on the languages and cultures of Asia, classical languages of Europe, linguistics, and computational linguistics. We offer education at undergraduate, advanced, and doctoral levels. With approximately 70 employees, we create an international and intellectually vibrant environment together with students and partners.

Responsibilities

Your main responsibilities will be to promote your own and the department's research by preparing an academically well-argued application for external research funding from a suitable research funder. The application should concern a project within one of the following research fields: Greek, Latin, Indology, Sinology, or Linguistics. The planned project must be based at the Department of Linguistics and Philology.

The role also involves contributing to the department's scientific environment through interaction with other researchers and teachers. The incumbent is expected to have their main working hours based at the workplace in Uppsala.

Qualifications

To be eligible for employment as a researcher, you must have completed a PhD or a foreign degree assessed as equivalent to a PhD in a subject relevant to the duties. Good knowledge of English, both oral and written, is required. The applicant must also possess personal qualities necessary to perform the duties well.

Desirable and Meritorious

In the assessment, the scientific quality, relevance, and feasibility of the outlined research plan, as well as the applicant's documented competence, will form the basis for ranking qualified applicants. It is also meritorious to have defended a PhD within the last two years.

• Certified copies of degree certificates and other relevant documents.
• A short description of scientific merits and research interests, including a list of scientific publications cited.
• The three scientific publications primarily cited as support for the application.
• A short sketch of the research plan to be refined during the employment (max two pages excluding references).

About the Position

The position is fixed-term, for a maximum of 5 months. The extent is between 50% and 100%. Start date: August 1st. Location: Uppsala.
